The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) has announced the commencement of a fresh phase in the ongoing road construction project linking the Water Board Roundabout, Kofar Sauri, and Kofar Soro.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri, the Authority said the contractor will move to site on Thursday, 18th September 2025, to begin work on sections affecting government institutions and residential buildings between the Water Board Roundabout and the bridge near Kofar Sauri.
The Director General of KASSAROTA, Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (Rtd.), who is also the Tafidan Kauran Katsina and District Head of Rimi, recalled that owners of affected properties had already been duly compensated during an earlier exercise. He reminded residents that it was previously agreed that construction work would start within two weeks of compensation.
KASSAROTA appealed to institutions including the Water Board and RUWASSA, as well as residents along the corridor, to remove valuables and installations from their buildings ahead of the contractor’s arrival.
The Authority also advised motorists to use alternative routes such as the Goruba Housing Estate road, the Kangiwa Road from the Water Board Roundabout, and the access road to the New Government House via AK Mai Kwai Plaza.
In addition, parents and guardians were cautioned to prevent children from visiting construction sites in search of scrap materials, warning that such behaviour could result in accidents.
KASSAROTA urged the public to cooperate fully to ensure the smooth execution of the project and safeguard lives during the construction period.
